Your first appointment will be the next day after your surgery. It is important that you arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you. This person will be responsible for driving you home and staying with you for at least the initial 24 hours after your procedure. Please share the post-operative care instructions with your companion to ensure they know what to expect and are prepared to assist during your recovery.
Showering: you may be pleased to know that full showering is allowed the day after your surgery for most procedures. This means that you can enjoy a refreshing and revitalizing shower to help you feel more comfortable during your recovery.

Surgical Dressings and Incision Care:
-
Leave the initial surgical dressings intact until your first follow-up appointment, unless otherwise specified by your surgeon.
-
Keep the incision area clean and dry. Avoid submerging the incisions into bathtub water or pool until cleared by your surgeon.
-
If instructed by your surgeon, you may need to change dressings as directed. Follow the provided guidelines for dressing changes.
Compression Garment (if applicable):
-
Wear the provided compression binder as instructed by your surgeon.
-
The compression garment helps reduce swelling, provide support, and enhance the healing process. Wear it consistently until your drains are removed.
Drains Care (if applicable):
-
If drains were placed during your surgery, carefully follow the instructions provided by your surgeon for drain care and management.
-
Keep a record of drain output and report any significant changes or concerns to your surgeon.

Medication and Supplement Instructions:
-
If you are on any regular medications or supplements, consult with your surgeon regarding their continued use during your recovery.
Pain Management:
-
Take the prescribed pain medications as directed, following the provided schedule.
-
Please refer to the prescription sheet for more information on your procedure prescription package.
-
If you experience severe or prolonged pain that is not relieved by medication, please notify our office promptly.
Massages:
Liposcution: We strongly recommend the inclusion of lymphatic massage in your post-procedure care.
It is highly beneficial to seek the expertise of a licensed massage therapist trained in lymphatic massage techniques. They can provide the most effective treatment tailored to your individual needs, ensuring optimal recovery and seroma prevention.
Activity and Rest:
-
Follow your surgeon's specific instructions regarding activity restrictions and limitations.
-
Plan for ample rest and avoid strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and vigorous exercise for six weeks.
-
Gradually increase your activity level as advised by your surgeon.
-
Elevate your feet while resting to reduce swelling and promote circulation. Use pillows or a recliner to achieve a comfortable position.
Dietary Guidelines:
-
Follow any dietary restrictions or guidelines provided by your surgeon.
-
Maintain a balanced diet and stay well-hydrated to support your body's recovery.
-
Scar Care:
-
Your surgeon may recommend scar care techniques such as topical ointments, creams (bioCorneum), or silicone sheets. Follow these instructions for scar management.
-
Avoid direct exposure to sunlight on the incision area and use sunscreen with a high SPF to protect the healing skin.
Follow-Up Appointments:
-
It is crucial to attend all scheduled follow-up appointments as advised by your surgeon.
-
Inform us immediately if you are unable to make any scheduled appointment, so we can reschedule or provide alternative arrangements.

Emotional and Psychological Support:
-
It is normal to experience a range of emotions during the recovery process. Reach out to loved ones or consider seeking professional support if needed.

If you have any concerns or questions during your recovery, do not hesitate to contact our office. We are here to support you every step of the way.
Please note that these instructions serve as general guidelines. Your surgeon may provide additional or modified instructions tailored to your specific procedure and recovery needs. Always follow your surgeon's advice for the best possible outcome.
