To aid in your post-operative care, your doctor may prescribe some medications to manage pain, inflammation, muscle relaxation, prevent infection, nausea, ensure appropriate blood clotting. Please carefully review and follow the instructions for each medication:

 

Antibiotics (the most important)

• Complete the entire course of antibiotics, even if your symptoms improve before finishing the medication.

•  Follow the specific instructions provided by your surgeon regarding the duration and timing of anticoagulant usage.

•   If you notice any unusual bleeding or bruising, please inform your surgeon promptly.

• Bring them to your first postop appointment so we can administer the first dose for you.

Pain Management:

• If your surgeon has prescribed Percocet/Oxycodone, please avoid taking it with Tylenol or any other medication containing acetaminophen to prevent exceeding the recommended dose.

• Ibuprofen: Take 800mg every 8 hours, as required, to help manage pain. Ensure you do not exceed the recommended dosage or frequency.

• It is advisable to take these medications with food to minimize the risk of stomach upset.

• If you experience severe pain that is not relieved by the prescribed medications, kindly contact our office promptly.

 

Anti-Inflammatory:
