GYNECOMASTIA

Gynecomastia is a surgical procedure designed to reduce the excess breast tissue and fat in males, resulting in a more masculine chest contour

Candidates for gynecomastia surgery typically include individuals who:

1. Have persistent, excessive breast tissue that does not resolve with lifestyle changes or medication.

2. Experience physical discomfort, pain, or embarrassment due to the appearance of their breasts.

3. Have good overall health and do not have any significant medical conditions that may increase surgical risks.
4. Have realistic expectations about the outcomes of the procedure.

1. Anesthesia: The procedure is performed under  general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the surgery and your surgeon's preference. Your surgeon will discuss the best option for you during your consultation.

2. Incision Placement: The incisions for gynecomastia surgery are usually made around the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple) to minimize visible scarring. In some cases, additional incisions may be made in inconspicuous areas, such as the armpit or along the chest creases.

3. Tissue Removal: Once the incisions are made, your surgeon will remove excess breast tissue, fat, and, if necessary, reposition the nipple to achieve a more natural appearance. Liposuction may also be used to remove excess fat deposits.

4. Skin Tightening: In cases where the skin has lost elasticity, your surgeon may perform additional techniques to tighten the skin and ensure a smoother chest contour.

5. Incision Closure: The incisions are closed using sutures, and dressings or bandages are applied to protect the incision sites.

6. Recovery: After the surgery, you will be monitored in a recovery area until you are stable and ready to be discharged. It is important to note that gynecomastia surgery is considered a major surgical procedure, and proper post-operative care is crucial for a successful recovery. Following your surgeon's instructions regarding activity restrictions, wearing compression garments, and attending follow-up appointments are essential for optimal healing.
